Dear Parents/ Carers,
We are writing to invite you to participate in an exciting course that we will be delivering at
Cherry Oak School, Frederick Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham, B29 6PB
The training package is one which has been devised by school specifically for our pupils.
Parents/Carers Support Programme
This programme is designed for parents and carers of children and young people with Autism. The programme is designed to:
Increase parents/carers understanding of Autism
Help parents/carers develop their knowledge on how an Autistic child experiences the world and what drives their behaviour
Guide parents/carers through practical strategies they can use with children and provide resources
Direct parents/carers to relevant ASC resources
Give parents/carers the opportunity to meet with other people who have had similar experiences and to gain support and learn from each other
The course will include:
Autism & diagnosis
Communication
Sensory Issues
Understanding relationships and behaviour and providing positive strategies
How to be a resilient parent.
We would love for you to join us for the sessions at 12.30 till 2.30 on
Monday 10th March 2025
Monday 17th March 2025
Monday 24th March 2025
Monday 31st March 2025
Monday 7th April 2025
To get the most out of the course we recommend that you attend all of the sessions but understand that this may not be possible.
The sessions will be delivered by Jacqui Hanna-Jones (Assistant Headteacher and Behaviour Lead – Cherry Oak School) and Vicky Mawby (Family Support Worker.) The communication session will be led by Lianne Saeed, our Communication Lead.
There are a limited amount of places available (10) so please complete the form below to register your interest.
