Working Together for Success
Using Objects of Reference has proven to be a highly effective approach. It has been embedded into our whole school total communication approach. It is a valuable method to aid understanding of spoken language, support understanding of daily routines and provide a means of expressive communication.
Using an object of reference allows children to have a visual representation of elements of the day that are important to them, allow them to understand and follow instructions and give them an opportunity to make requests/choices.
